Group Buying: Deal or No Deal?

I am aware of group buying sites but never really took much interest into it. That is until recently. I had couple of friends, one in Philippines and another here in Dubai whom shared good deals that they got through those sites.

So I registered in a few like Groupon and Cobone here in Dubai. I bought one Groupon voucher for an Indian restaurant, although the food was great I didn't like the initial discussion with the restaurant staff. He was insisting that the voucher worth 100 AED was to be consumed by one person. We were 3 pax and even a 4th person can still share with the food we later ordered. I couldn't blame Groupon for the not so good experience, maybe the restaurant staff was just ignorant of the deal itself (I convinced myself that's the case). Still that was my first and last experience as of date.

But by next week, my friend got us another deal this time from Cobone and will be sharing our yatch experience later on.

Now I am checking deals offered in the Philippines for my coming vacation this April. Alas, I found a lot of sites offering various deals from food, travel, relaxation, stuffs, etc. I also read negative feedback on some.

So which is a good deal and a bad deal?

Ensogo
Metrodeal
Beeconomic
CashCashPinoy
Buyanihan
Pakyaw
Twangoo

  3. I read about of negative feed back about the online deals especially from the Philippines so I would rather not go for it. It is different in the US though ,here a deal is a deal .what you have is what you get.

  4. I registered with groupon but I haven't used it. They sent me loads of discount coupons like 10% off of your bill or free drinks. I'm not bothered to use it because lots of it are gimmicks only. SO NO DEAL for me.

  10. Research first, sometimes they make it look like malaki ang discount but hindi pala, actual price pala especially sa mga hotels/resorts. :)

  11. I have no idea whatsoever about this good deal or bad deal on foodies here in the PH. I think by scouting, by recommendation from friends or persons who have been or had a superb experience on food deals are at their best to vouch for such. But myself, I don't have any.

  13. I am a fan of ensogo. I bought a lot of stuffs there, from cakes, to coffee. Most of them are good deals but you must also review the terms really well before purchasing one.

  14. wow... if you bought something like that online they should allow 3-4 person to avail not just one person. That's why its a deal.. it's suppose to bring a good deal.

I haven't tried those before but I just might. :)
